Understanding Grit Sizes
Grit size refers to the number of abrasive particles per square inch. Lower numbers = coarser grit (aggressive material removal); higher numbers = finer grit (smooth finishing).
Coarse (24-60 Grit)

Medium (80-120 Grit)

- Always check disc RPM rating vs. tool speed (exceeding RPM can cause disc failure)
- Wear safety glasses, face shield, and hearing protection during grinding operations
- Replace discs immediately if cracked, worn to center hole, or vibrating excessively
- Use proper backing pads for fiber discs (medium for flat surfaces, soft for contours)
- Apply consistent, moderate pressure — excessive force reduces cutting efficiency and disc life
- Allow new disc to run at full speed for 1 minute before use (safety break-in period)
